Mass Torts

Mass tort is a term that refers to the grouping of a number of individual civil cases with similar causes of action or injuries. These cases are grouped together for the purposes of pre-trial discovery and are collectively referred to as mass tort. Each plaintiff still maintains his or her individual case, but common issues such as discovery and court rulings are handled together to promote judicial efficiency and manage cost.  Mass tort actions typically involve defective drugs or defective products that have injured a large number of people in similar ways.

Some large Mass Torts in the past have included:

  • Power Morcellators
  • Pradaxa®
  • Risperdal®
  • Stryker®
  • Transvaginal Mesh
  • Zofran®
  • Stryker Hip Replacements
  • Enron, Inc

Class Actions

A class action is a type of lawsuit where one of the parties is a group of people that is represented collectively by a member of that group. The grouping of people who were hurt, victims of fraud, or those injured by products and services can increase the class action’s power and reduce legal costs. These suits can help people who were hurt by getting them compensation much faster than individual claims.

Class action began in the United States and is still mostly a U.S. practice, but several countries in Europe have made changes to allow consumer organizations to bring claims on behalf of consumers.

Some large Class Actions Lawsuits in the past have included:

  • GM Ignition Switches
  • Tobacco Companies
  • Asbestos/Mesothelioma
  • BP Oil Spill
  • VW Clean Diesel

It is our goal to help those harmed by large companies. It is unfair that these companies reap profit from faulty products and services. We make sure the victims of these companies get just compensation for medical care, pain, suffering, lost wages, and future losses. Our proven track record shows that we have handled many large class action lawsuits, recovering millions of dollars for our clients.
